Learning from lecture videos and recordings

Stop rewatching. Turn a YouTube lecture, tutorial or your own class recording into notes and review material.

Who this workflow is for

Anyone who learns from video: students with recorded lectures, self-learners following YouTube courses and tutorials, and professionals catching up on talks. Video is linear and long; the goal of this workflow is to get the content into a form you can skim, review and test yourself on.

The workflow, step by step

  1. Paste the link or upload the recording. Paste a YouTube link, or upload an audio or video recording of a class, talk or meeting.
  2. Get the notes. Pick Summary for a clean set of notes with the main arguments, definitions and takeaways.
  3. Turn key terms into flashcards. Pick Flashcards to drill the terms and facts from the video without scrubbing the timeline.
  4. Check yourself with a quiz. Pick Quiz to confirm you understood the lecture, not just watched it.
  5. Relisten as a podcast. Optionally pick Podcast for a spoken recap you can play hands-free.

Tip: if the video is in a language that isn't your first, generate the notes in your own language — see the study in any language workflow.

Which Axo outputs to use

  • Summary — notes you can reread instead of rewatching.
  • Flashcards and Quiz — turn watching into active recall.
  • Podcast — review the lecture away from the screen.
